Fundsmith Equity makes Bestinvest's 'Spot the Dog' list for the first time

Terry Smith’s flagship £23.4bn Fundsmith Equity has featured in Bestinvest’s ‘Spot the Dog’ biannual survey for the first time in the study’s history.

Besinvest's assessment of the fund management industry classifies funds according to underperformance relative for their relevant indices over three consecutive 12-month periods and by 5% or more over the three years, deeming these strategies ‘dog funds'. Nick Train also made an appearance for the first time, with his WS Lindsell Train UK Equity also in the "dog house". Bestinvest said the past three years have evidently tripped up "some of the UK's most well-respected fund managers" in Smith and Train.
