Investment Week Private Markets Summit

Investment Week is pleased to invite registrations for its first dedicated Private Markets Summit, taking place at Pennyhill Park in Surrey on 9-10 May 2024.

Private markets have entered an exciting new era in the UK wealth management space as innovative fund structures and platforms are opening up growth opportunities, as well as prompting discussions about the role of private assets in client portfolios.

Building on the success of the private markets day at last year's Investment Week Alternatives Summit, this exclusive event will bring together wealth management leaders, heads of fund selection and private markets providers, including PIMCO, Apollo Global Management, Goldman Sachs Asset Management, Nuveen, AllianceBernstein, Aviva Investors and Schroders.

Investment Week and our guests will explore the opportunities available for wealth managers and fund selectors, including how they can navigate this rapidly-evolving space to find the best solutions for clients.

The Summit will feature sessions exploring the different fund structures available to UK wealth firms, their liquidity profiles and benefits for investors.

We will discuss how platforms and distributors are facilitating access to private market funds and their impact on innovation and the growth of this market.

Our speakers will also share their perspectives on the regulatory environment, as well as how wealth firms in the UK are approaching gaining access to private markets and responding to challenges.

In addition, we will be taking an in-depth look at a variety of private market strategies, tackling the complexities of private market valuations and looking ahead to key themes shaping the development of private markets.

Sessions include:

Keynote: Retailisation Structures - An Overview of Market Trends. Will Normand, Partner, Funds, Travers Smith

Will Normand discusses the evolution of private markets, providing an overview of the products and structures available to wealth managers and their clients, and offers insight into how their approaches and offerings are being adapted in response to changing investor preferences.

Panel Discussion: Understanding the risks and opportunities when investing in Private Markets

As increasing numbers of managers launch forays into private assets for the first time, we look at the risks to be managed and challenges to consider when integrating with traditional discretionary portfolios.

·       What are private markets and why should you invest?

·       How are private market assets valued and appraised?

·       Understanding the operational challenges to overcome when investing in illiquid assets

·       What are the key questions wealth managers need to be asking fund providers?

Keynote: Creating a Private Markets offering that meets the needs of your clients

With increasing demand and a more readily available and more liquid supply, private markets are becoming a more viable asset class for high net worth (HNW) and affluent investors. We examine the challenges firms face in developing an offering and then targeting and distributing to clients in a cost-efficient way that keeps both the compliance teams and regulator happy.

·       An overview of Private Markets trends within the wealth management market.

·       Ensuring that private assets are appropriate for your clients' needs and challenges.

·       What do the different models mean for wealth mangers and how should they position and distribute these offerings?

·       Examining the internal difficulties to overcome around education and understanding of these products.
