Campaigns launched by US funds against UK corporates in 2024 hit 40% last year, the highest proportion seen over the past five years.
In total, 23 out of 59 campaigns against UK corporates in 2024 were led by US activists, the highest number for three years, according to the A&M Activist Alert (AAA) Outlook. The increase in US activism extended across Europe, as campaigns launched by US based groups jumping 27% in 2023, to 35% last year. But the UK remained the main overall focus, retaining its spots as the most targeted country in Europe for investor activism, and the fourth worldwide.
