While hardly renowned for his climate activism, the prominent Brexit campaigner and Conservative MP for Wellingborough, Peter Bone, struck a chord when he sought advice from COP26 president Alok Sharma on buying an electric car in Parliament a few weeks ago: "Before buying an electric car, will he assure me that the mining of cobalt and lithium isn't killing people in the mines, or would it just be easier for me to buy a horse?"
