The consequences of a changing climate were top of mind for people all over the Northern Hemisphere this summer. Temperatures reached scorching highs and drought set in, drying up rivers, reservoirs and aquifers. Many nations are used to these conditions - to long dry bouts where water becomes scarce - even if the severity of the recent droughts was on another level.
