Last week, we learnt the UK had entered a technical recession.

The news was met with every kind of response, including ‘it's only technical', ‘we're all doomed', ‘nothing's changed', ‘we're already on the way out of a recession so stop moaning about it and, no, I won't be acknowledging the fact I've admitted we were in a recession'… you get the picture.
