US equity and tech funds were among the best performing funds of Q1, while emerging market mandates, particularly those investing in Latin America, posted some of the weakest performance. The first half of 2018 saw political risk come back to the fore of investor concerns with turmoil in Italy, continuing tensions between the US and Iran and President Donald Trump's trade tariffs on a number of countries across the globe. Emerging markets, in particular, were impacted by the rising US dollar while idiosyncratic risks in Argentina and Turkey also accounted for the poor performance. ...
