As the year draws to an end, we ask top managers to pick their most successful stocks of the past 12 months.

Neil Veitch, manager of the SVM UK Opportunities fund Three stocks that have performed strongly for our funds have been Nautical Petroleum, Yule Catto and IMI. Nautical not only announced significant drilling success but the disposal of one of its key assets. With an active drill programme over the next six months we believe the outlook is positive. Yule Catto, a UK speciality chemical company, is an example of the inefficiency that exists at the lower end of the market.
