The mineral potash is tipped to be one of the top performing commodities of the year. Joanna Faith finds out why

Potash has come under the spotlight lately after big name managers including Investec’s Bradley George backed the commodity. George, manager of the £288m Enhanced Natural Resources fund, last week said it was one of three commodities, along with gold and crude oil, he expects to outperform in 2012. The main driver behind this positive sentiment is increased demand, especially from emerging market farmers.
