The US economy’s recovery was buoyed by a string of positive indicators recently. Notably positive were US payroll results on 2 March, which prompted the chairman of Goldman Sachs Asset Management, Jim O’Neill, to say there will be a renewed rally in US equities. Manufacturing and employment figures have also improved. However, there have been several false dawns for the recovery from the 2008 recession, so is the US really out the water?
