River & Mercantile's (R&M) William Lough "fell in love" with fund management after an internship at a hedge fund got him hooked on the 'mosaic theory' of piecing information together to form compelling arguments.
After leaving university, he only applied for graduate programmes in fund management but, interestingly, long-only equities not hedge funds. "The excitement of the market [during the internship] was what really hooked me, being close to the market and the day-to-day cut and thrust," he said.
