Boutique investment group Dalton Strategic Partnership is to go up against much larger houses with an Indian fund offering. The group is launching the Melchior Indian Opportunities fund to compete with offerings unveiled in the past 18 months by groups such as Fidelity and ABN Amro. The portfolio, which is to be managed by UR Bhat, is benchmarked against the BSE 500 index and aims to generate capital appreciation by investing in a concentrated portfolio of between 25 and 35 stocks which it believes are under researched and under valued by the market.
