The FTSE 100 followed up yesterday's gains this morning, as mining stocks continued their rally.
The London blue chip index climbed 31.58 points (0.75%) to 4,269 early, with strong performances from Fresnillo, Kazakhmys and Xstrata. The three companies rose 4.13% to £5.55, 3.67% to £6.64 and 3.13% to £6.33, respectively. The hike follows yesterday's 32.62 point (0.78%) rally for the index, which closed on 4,238. The Dow finished yesterday up 26.14 points (0.31%) on 8,359. Technology stock Intel Corp was the runaway winner on the Wall Street index, up 9.46% to $16.79, following second quarter sales figures in excess of analysts' expectations.
