Martin Currie is to launch a UK domiciled open-ended China fund to be run by James Chong on 10 March.
The fund will be similar to Chong’s SICAV Greater China fund, but will focus exclusively on Hong Kong and China. The manager says the fund will be run with a bottom-up stock picking approach but will also incorporate macro, sector and industry themes. He says: “Our investment philosophy is that change drives stock prices. We believe we can identify, evaluate and exploit change by recognising gaps between investors’ perceptions and reality.” The fund will focus on growth orientated Chinese equities using the MSCI Zhong Hua Index as a benchmark.
