Concerns over a potential hard landing in China, the prospect of renewed turmoil in Iraq and plays on the gold price are among the top ten themes for investors to consider in 2012, according to new research.
Independent research house Fat Prophets' top ten predictions for 2012 highlighted the perennial question of a slowing Chinese economy as a major discussion point for the year. But the group said China's swift reaction to the financial crisis and subsequent attempts to cool the economy have been "well executed". The main challenge for the world's second largest economy this year will be the prospect of a weak outlook for export markets, the company said. But China's ability to further stimulate its economy should mean "those looking for a hard landing are likely to be disappointed". ...
