An online petition calling for Hector Sants' nomination for a knighthood to be withdrawn has received more than 1,000 signatures.
'Roger C' set up the community petition on Avaaz.org on Thursday, arguing Sants is not worthy of the honour. The petition argues that Sants, when chief executive of the Financial Services Authority, failed to respond adequately to the financial crisis or maintain a fair regulatory system. The e-petition had received 1,042 signatures as of 7:30am on Friday. It reads: "I am shocked the government has nominated Hector Sants for a knighthood.
