UK CPI inflation holds steady at 2.7% in September

UK consumer prices index (CPI) inflation remained stable in September at 2.7%.

The figure, unchanged from August, reflected a rise in the cost of air fares which was offset by downward pressure from motor fuel prices. Meanwhile, the retail prices index (RPI) measure of inflation fell slightly to 3.2% from 3.3% in August. CPIH, the new measure which includes the costs owner occupiers' face in owning, maintaining and living in their own homes, came in at by 2.5% - also unchanged from August.
