New data has shown equity funds have been impacted to a far greater extent than bond funds in terms of price following the move to unbundle product fees.
According to research from Fitz Partners, the average total expense ratio of equity funds in the UK has fallen from 1.86% for bundled prices, down to 1.13% for clean share classes. The fall is to be expected as adviser commission and the platform fee have come out of the equation, but bond funds moving to clean share classes have not seen the same level of discount. The research found a much smaller difference between the average bond fund when it moves from bundled to clean - with a saving of just 46bps.
