FCA apologises for public warning error

The Financial Conduct Authority (FCA) has issued a public apology for omitting details in a warning notice, which could have alerted consumers to the wrong firm.

The regulator said it accepted it should have made clear in its notice on 17 December the two firms, which have similar names, were "in no way connected". In a note published on its website on 19 December it said: "We have had our attention drawn to the fact that "Cash Finance Direct" has a similar name to a company called Cash Finance Direct (Holdings) Limited which holds FCA interim permission to carry on consumer credit business.
