The Financial Conduct Authority (FCA) has warned of a scam firm using the details of investment manager BlackRock to defraud investors.
The regulator warned the firm was using BlackRock's name, BlackRock Advisors (UK) Limited, as well as the firm's address and FCA firm reference number. The clone firm also operates under Black Rock Ltd, it said. The regulator warned: "Fraudsters are using the details of firms we authorise to try to convince people that they work for a genuine, authorised firm. "Fraudsters usually use this tactic when contacting people out of the blue, so you should be especially wary if you have been cold called."
