Ali Unwin, manager of the Neptune Global Technology fund, has expressed his surprise following the announcement Microsoft is to acquire social networking website LinkedIn for $26.2bn (£18bn).
The purchase, which is expected to be complete by the end of the year, will result in LinkedIn chief executive Jeff Weiner remaining in his role but reporting to Microsoft chief executive Satya Nadella. The deal was backed by both Weiner and chairman, co-founder and controlling shareholder of LinkedIn, Reid Hoffman.
