Amundi has confirmed its interest in Pioneer Investments, the asset management business owned by Italian bank UniCredit.
However, the French firm issued a statement to deny it had made a €4bn offer, which had been attributed to it in various media reports. The statement said: "Following rumours in the Italian newspaper Il Messaggero concerning the submission of a non binding offer for the purchase of Pioneer by Amundi, Amundi wishes to clarify the following points: "Amundi confirms its interest in Pioneer, consistent with the growth strategy presented at the time of its IPO."
