MPs back plan to trigger Article 50 in March

PM May's success in sticking to timetable

MPs have backed Prime Minister Theresa May's Brexit timetable, which includes triggering Article 50 by March 2017, on the condition she sets out final objectives on the negotiated strategy.

461 MPs voted with May (pictured) for the government to trigger Article 50 by the end of March while 89 MPs voted against the motion. David Davis, the Brexit secretary, said MPs would likely be given "a take it or leave it" question with regards to the government's proposal for Brexit, according to the FT. He said, if MPs rejected the proposed deal then it was likely Britain could leave the EU in 2019 with a hard-Brexit and no plan in place.
