The International Monetary Fund (IMF) has increased its forecast for US growth in reaction to President-Elect Donald Trump's proposed fiscal stimulus measures.
The IMF, in its report World Economic Outlook Update, increased its US GDP growth forecast by 0.1 percentage points to 2.3% for 2017, and by 0.4 percentage points to 2.5% for 2018. However kept its overall global growth outlook unchanged from its October forecasts, at 3.4% and 3.6% for 2017 and 2018, respectively. Trump's fiscal stimulus plans, including increased infrastructure spending and proposed tax cuts, was the key reason the IMF revised its growth forecast upward.
