David Walton, manager of the Marlborough European Multi-Cap fund, has said Europe is only just recovering from the 2008-09 global financial crisis and believes the region has scope to continue its moderate growth.
Speaking to Investment Week, Walton pointed to Italy and Spain as countries where business confidence and activity had only very recently started to return. The manager said: "We still see good opportunities in European companies, especially some of the smaller ones. "The region went through a long period of austerity, especially in southern Europe after the Lehman's crisis of 2008 and 2009. Those countries are only just getting back on their feet, return of business confidence and activity. "Each country is different, but the region is not overheated in terms of economic indicator...
