Candriam launches total return bond fund with defensive tilt

Candriam Investors Group has launched the Bonds Total Return Defensive fund aiming to deliver an annual return of Euro Overnight Index Average (Euonia) plus 1% while maintaining a volatility below 2% over two years.

Portfolio manager Damien Martin will be the lead manager of the fund. He will be supported by Candriam's global head of fixed income Nicolas Forest and portfolio manager Alain Peters, who will be co-managers. The fund will invest across both developed and emerging markets in sovereign bonds, corporate credit and currencies, employing a flexible approach. It has the ability to take negative and positive duration positions while also gaining access to credit and currency markets through longs and shorts.
