Lipper's Glow: New Year resolutions for the European fund management industry

Detlef Glow, head of EMEA research at Thomson Reuters Lipper, has highlighted four key issues the European asset management industry should tackle heading into 2019.

In a research note, Glow (pictured) warned the industry needed to address these issues in the face of "increasing pressure" from regulators and consumer protection groups. Avoid index hugging In order to compete against the rise of ETFs and index funds, the EMEA research head said fund managers need to "re-sharpen" their focus on delivering alpha as this would "convince" investors that active funds can provide a real alternative to passives.
