Matthews Asia appoints CIO amid name change

Drops 'Asia' from name

Matthews Asia has appointed Sean Taylor as its new CIO following the decision to drop ‘Asia’ from its name to reflect a "widening focus".

Taylor, who will take on the role from 1 January 2024, will replace Robert Horrocks, who has worked as CIO at the firm since August 2008. Horrocks is set to step back from his current leadership responsibilities but will continue to manage the Matthews Asian Growth and Income, Matthews Asia Dividend and Matthews Asia ex Japan Total Return Equity funds.  Meanwhile, Taylor will lead Matthews' San Francisco and Hong Kong-based investment teams, as well as supporting the firm's customised solutions platform.
